NK ADAMANT Obtains KGMP Certification, Expanding into the Medical High-Pressure Platform Market
NK Corporation (CEO Je-wan Park) announced on May 14 that its defense subsidiary, NK ADAMANT, has obtained certification of compliance with the Medical Device Manufacturing and Quality Management Standards (KGMP) (Certification No. KTR-AABAA-26783) from the Korea Testing & Research Institute (KTR), marking the company's full-scale entry into the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) Chamber market.
The certification represents a significant milestone in extending NK Group's pressure-control technologies, developed over more than four decades in industrial high-pressure vessels and the defense industry, into the medical device sector.
According to NK ADAMANT, its Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Chambers are designed and manufactured in accordance with the globally recognized ASME STAMP standards throughout the entire process—from design to production—maximizing structural integrity and reliability. The chambers also incorporate 14 treatment tables based on the U.S. Navy Diving Manual, enabling effective treatment for both emergency and chronic medical conditions.
NK Group also highlights the technological advantages that distinguish NK ADAMANT from conventional medical device manufacturers. The company possesses core technologies developed for submarine high-pressure systems, which must operate reliably under extreme conditions, as well as hydrogen energy charging, storage, and transportation solutions that require the highest levels of safety and reliability. The company explains that these deep-tech capabilities create a significant barrier to entry in the HBOT Chamber market, where precise pressure control and uncompromising safety are fundamental requirements that are difficult for conventional competitors to replicate.
Drawing upon globally proven expertise from the submarine and hydrogen industries, NK ADAMANT has integrated advanced high-pressure system technologies—including vibration and noise control, safety mechanisms, and manufacturing know-how—into the development of its Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Chambers. By going beyond the supply of medical equipment and providing the safest possible treatment environment for both patients and healthcare professionals, the company aims to rapidly establish a strong presence in the HBOT market.
In parallel, NK ADAMANT is conducting collaborative non-invasive research with the Brain Engineering Research Center at DGIST (Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology) on treatments for neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's disease and schizophrenia. Additional research is also underway to expand applications in veterinary medicine, sports medicine, and men's urological health, further broadening the potential of the company's medical high-pressure platform.
An NK ADAMANT representative commented:
"A Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Chamber is, first and foremost, a highly sophisticated high-pressure system that demands engineering integrity, uncompromising safety mechanisms, and exceptional operational stability. This is an area in which NK possesses world-class expertise. Building on the technological leadership we have established through our submarine and hydrogen businesses, we are committed to becoming a leading global player in the medical device market."
